Blunt as old harry When I used it my first impression was that it was leaving the bristles but shaving off my skin - I wasn`t far off: I got shaving rash and later found out that in order to get the close shave it is said to give I had to go over the same area again and again. since the bad experience I have changed to wet shaving which works noticeably better. Another downside of the shaver is that it`s revitalising goo runs out extremely quickley. One good point is that it is extremley hardy and long-lasting as I have had it for a few years now and it has never broken down. It is VERY expensive to maintain as the refill blades are a total rip-off. Don`t buy this and don`t get hooked on dry shaving because it is a waste of time and wet shaving beats it hands-down. Smooth I have wanted one of these for a while. I always had some discomfort shaving either with a wet or electric razor. This razor is very comfortable to use, I also bought a anti-steam mirror so I can use it properly in the shower and I have noticed a huge difference. My skin looks and feels better. I would recomend this to all especially since it is at such a low price. Its the best electric shaver there is I have had a number of electrical shavers and this is the best one i have ever had. its not a wet shave but it the next best thing. Works for me!!!!! I've been wet shaving with the mach 3 since it came out and it does cut close but because of my sensitive skin type, no matter what creams or lotions I used my skin was still getting infected. Now I'm not saying I have dirty greasy skin but I was finding it hard to find alternatives. The problem with wet shaving is no matter how many times a shaving packet says "never shave against the grain" it's hard to get close without doing it!!! That meant when shaving against the grain I was getting small cuts or damaging the skin so it did get infected. The solution!!!!! Electric shavers! Which one??? Well this one isn't bad at all and you could do worse! The battery power is good, the blades don't bite your hairs out...although wait until the blades go blunt and I guess you'll find out then! The cream isn't bad on dry shave but better in the shower! It's quick it's easy and it does the job. For someone with easily managed stubble. If you have much more coarse hair and more in the way of a beard everytime the day ends...well that's different. You may need to finish off with a wet shave!! But if you just need to cut the stuff down for the day....it's easy!!! I've had 4 shaves with it and the lady in Boots said it may take a coupld of weeks to get used to but I have found the first, second and third shaves as good as my mach three. And guess what....no spots or cuts!!!! Unbeatable shaving experience. My original mains Philishave heads finally started disintigrating after 15+ years, and given their uneconomic price I decided to treat myself to a new one. I've had it ever since I gave up using foil shavers, which couldn't cope with my thick bristles and also gave me nasty razor burn and sore skin. I had none of those issues with my Philishave which also comfortably cleared my growth even if I left it a few days, and is also very quiet. There was never any doubt I was going to have another one. But which? Shopping about quickly revealed Amazon to have by far the best pricing across the range and originally I was going to go for the HQ5812 mains rechargeable, a great buy, but then I noticed this model, not much more, and the idea of shaving with it with gel in the shower appealed. So this is what I had. I'm delighted. Using gel makes everything much less irritating for the skin than my dry Philishave. Not sure the Nivea pouches are necessary, and I smear a small amount of wet blade shave gel on my face instead before starting. Far cheaper and smoother still IMHO. Washes out in the shower and so is always clean and hygenic for the next go. As a shaving system it is great and I can't fault it. I would have given it 5* but for the fact that it doesn't have a trimmer, which I do want. Overall, at the price, an unbeatable shaving experience.
