Product DescriptionWii (pronounced 'we') is Nintendo's new home video game console that represents a radical step into a new era of entertainment. For years, video games have been growing in popularity but also in complexity. With Wii, Nintendo changes the way you play by maximising the fun and minimising the fuss. The Wii console makes you feel less like a player and more like you're in the game. Frenzied sword battles are no longer confined to pushing a button. With Wii's unique Wii Remote controller, Nintendo puts you in the middle of the action. Forget about pushing a button to start a golf backswing. Wii lets you swing the club! Don't push a button to swing a sword, actually swing the sword. Video games have always been a part of you, now you get to be a part of them. Step up to the next level of gaming. Over time, gaming has become overwhelming to people. The Wii console returns gaming to simpler times while innovating game development at the same time. The unique Wii Remote gives parents and grandparents a chance to play games with their children. It gives gamers and traditional non-gamers a chance to share the same experiences in this new generation of gaming. For those who grew up with video games, Wii shows that games have not outgrown them. Product ReviewsCustomers have given Nintendo Wii Console (Includes Wii Sports) an average customer review rating of 4.5 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. Wicked :o) I found this console rather good and nice. It's got a really good tennis game. Well smart. Fine for the elderly I'm not sure if Nintendo even markets this as a games' console anymore, and I doubt there are many gamers who will have splashed out over the odds for this gimmicky piece of cheap plastic tat. As hard as I've tried, I've hardly seen a single game worth playing for anyone other than the very young, the elderly, or people who just don't understand quality gaming. The adverts featuring the twin buffoons that are Ant and Dec demonstrate what the Wii's demographic is, and it's definitely not fans of Modern Warfare, GTA or Metal Gear Solid, IE. games with panache, quality and flare. No, the Wii is a novelty item for people who don't mind dancing around in front of their TVs to rip-off fitness software, or the umpteenth iteration of Mario Kart. Basically, it's the 21st Century's Jane Fonda video with some below par video games tacked on. Day long entertainment So, daylong entertainment... 1.Early morning the kids start off on Wii Sports Resort. Table tennis is favourite at the moment as they play it in school. 2.Check the Weather Channel, go for a walk in the snow and get in some sledging before the thaw. 3.Back home, upload the snaps and movies on the Photo Channel. Great as everyone can see (much better than huddling around a laptop). I was thinking of buying a digital photo frame, but not one the size of of the lounge TV. My wife plays with the images and the jigsaw setting, creating a 48-piece mind-bender of the dog! Over a spot of lunch we watch gran's summer holiday pictures. 4.Three generations on Wii Sports in the afternoon. Then onto the Internet Channel to get a detailed look at the footy results. 5.Friends drop by and we miss setting up the PVR for "So You Think You Can Dance". No problem, after they've gone I go to the BBC iPlayer Channel and we all watch the programme together. A really, really, versatile product. Dissatisfaction I have twice written to the client through their email address in Amazon, we did not receive the Wii sports game which was advertised with the Wii console. I am very unhappy and would like an explanation. Wii- Offers so much, falls short Im going to try and keep this as balanced and fair as possible. I am a hardcore gamer who mainly plays PC games, but every now and again I like to plug in a console and try a few exclusives or play with a large group of friends. First the positives 1)each game is almost unique because of the controllers 2)Shooting games like house of the dead and ghost squad are fantastic. I love light gun games like time crisis, point blank and virtua cop. 3)Driving games also work surprisingly well. 4)Some great classic games like mario and smash bros melee. 5)backwards compatable with game cube games and controllers. 6)swinging a remote isn't difficult to learn the negatives 1) The controller is very limited, while playing tennis you could go for a huge swing, a simple half attempted flick of the wrist produces the same result. This leads to some confusion with the wii actually registering movment. wii sports golf is totally useless because of this. 2) too many addons such as plastic bats, numchucks, extra remotes, rechargeable battery packs, wii fit board, non slip covers.....need I say more? some of these are fairly important but its still hidden costs. All consoles have this but the wii takes it to a new level. 3) most titles are too short. Im finding this with alot of games in general but the wii's titles seem like a collection of mini games rather than full titles. The only time I use my wii now is when I have friends over. The 3rd negative I feel is the killer for me. Mini games like that just aren't designed for single player environment. I didn't really address graphics as I don't feel this is a negative. Some games could do with a bit more polish but it doesn't ruin the gaming experience for me in any way. Overall nice innovation but let down at times by lack of accuracy in the controls. Not much fun to play on your own but does excel with a group of friends. I feel this is a review aimed at more hardcore gamers, who ultimately will enjoy for a short time then will get bored and move on. Good for beginner gamers since controls are so easy to pick up, a major downfall when introducing others to other consoles (Try teaching any non regular gamer to play quake) Submit Your ReviewTo submit your review of Nintendo Wii Console (Includes Wii Sports) you must first login / register.
