Product ReviewsCustomers have given Formula One Championship Edition (PS3) an average customer review rating of 4.0 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. Real F1 The truth is that this game is ultra realistic. it is as close to realism as you are gonna get.its an amazing game and very addictive. its not fun its bloody hard work trying to keep up with other cars in a super aguri on hard!!! Nowhere near as good as the PS2 version Formula One 2006 was brilliant on the ps2, one of my favourite racing games ever. I can't understand why nobody seems to mention the unbelievably annoying glare from sunlight in this ps3 version though, as well as the darkness when there are shadows etc. You can't even see the track a lot of the time. That being said, the graphics are stunning. However, the gameplay isn't a patch on the ps2 version. The cars don't quite feel right, and because of the lack of vibration on the ps3 control pads you don't feel the bumps in the track. Plus, sony really should have updated the teams and drivers, don't see why it was released without lewis hamilton in the game. Hopefully the next installment will be much better, but for now i'm sticking to the ps2 version. Hate F1, Love This Game I can't stand F1, these days it's just so boring to watch. But i can stand racing games and if like me the OTT style of games like Burnout and Motorstorm dont do much for you, you'll like F1 Championship Edition. As odd as this sounds, F1 CE is more about the driving than the racing as all the overtaking is more or less done in the first few laps untill you settle into a position. After than it's about driving consistent laps and getting your pitstop right, but dont think you can relax there. When you pit your prompted for button combinations to make your crew change tires etc, quicker you react quicker your pitstop. Before you even get to race though you do Car Evolution in the free practice. The car starts default, then you do a lap. Your crew make and adjustment to whatever area your evolving, breaks, wings, suspension, whatever. Then you go back out and try again, you pick the lap with the best setting. The best thing about this game is the career mode. You don't just jump in any team you want and start racing. You begin as a free agent and apply for one of the lower end of the grid teams untill one of them invites you for a trial where you'll have to meet some requirements if you want the drive which are usual things like beat a set lap time within a timelimit. Depending how you perform in the trial will depend where you enter the team, but it's likely to be as a test driver. Test well and you get promoted to 2nd driver, do well in the race and you'll be the number one driver. Then obviously the better you get more teams will become more interested. For a release title the graphics are superb and for the first time you get a real sense of "Woah i'm driving fast!" that i find the likes of Gran Turismo don't pull off. This game really is all about the concentration, when you first pick it up you'll be lucky if you take the same line twice around the track. There are driving aids but i don't recommend them (for any driving game for that matter) as they tend to get in the way. What will be useful are the breaking markers and highlighting the racing line. F1 CE has a lot of depth to it that i just didnt see coming, even you hate F1 i seriously recommend this. A solid game unsuited to those who aren't avid F1 fans pros: sparkling sharpness of all things of importance, i.e., the cars and the tracks. Realistic tuning of the cars, either done by the team through tests (where you have to drive), or by you're own choice. Realistic tracks where most of the proportions are correct, other than, of course, recent additions (chicane at Cataluna) Driver aids for beginners (although beginners aren't encouraged because aids such as steering aid make game pointless) cons: Crowd all modelled on one gif, as are the podium winners. Damage a little unrealistic Summary: good overall game, which is only tainted by minor unrealisms. as good as it gets in F1 i just want to say i ve been playing F1 since its debut back in 94 on the first playstation, this game is one of the best games i have ever played the guys who made it have a lot of experiance on it i give it 10/10 its the next best thing to actually driving the car itself Submit Your ReviewTo submit your review of Formula One Championship Edition (PS3) you must first login / register.
