Product ReviewsCustomers have given National Geographic - Night-Vision Goggles an average customer review rating of 1.0 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. Nice idea, but... ...this is the second product we've bought from the National Geographic range and both have been disappointing (the other was a metal detector which, on average, detected metal from a range of about 5cm and then only if it was visible to the naked eye which rather negated the point of detecting it in the first place). The night vision goggles were given to our son on a camping trip with the idea that he would find it great fun to visit the loo etc on his own. After tripping over several guy ropes and blundering into the side of a large tent, it became obvious that the goggles were not enhancing his night vision. He'd have achieved the same effect in his swimming goggles which at least have another purpose. If only these things worked even a little bit you could feel that you hadn't been ripped off, but these goggles are right up there with every kids' walkie talkie on the market and that rotten metal detector. Deeply Disappointing I didn't expect to get a pair of military spec goggles for this price but I did expect that this product would enhance normal night-vision and hearing, so delighting my 9 year old. What a huge disappointment: she tried them twice and now they are sitting in the box on a shelf. Save your money and buy something else - why National Geographic put their name (and reputation) to this I can not imagine. Very disappointing - 17 Oct 2007 - father from Bucks UK My 10 year old son was very disappointed with these goggles. The light, which is a high intensity red LED, the type used for rear cycle lamps, is the main problem. In a dark room at night the light could illuminate something about 1 meter away - much further away and the light failed completely. As for the "sonic ear listening device", it seems to amplify something that is already very close to the microphone (which is built into the headband of the goggles) but that's about all. My son whispered from about 3 meters away and I could hear him better with my naked ear than I could hear using the listening device on full volume! More a listerning aid than "Night Vision" This is a pair of plastic glasses with a red LED type light on the front, which gives dogs etc red eye if they are within about 20ft otherwise just a red glow on things nearby. Not for the keen night walker/animal watcher, you get what you pay for. Submit Your ReviewTo submit your review of National Geographic - Night-Vision Goggles you must first login / register.
