My 1st Scalextric Set (Toy)

Poor quality Bought this set (not from Amazon) as a starter to the world of Scalextric. Unfortunately the socket for the DC connector was loose and the current would therefore only flow intermittently. The slightest movement would disconnect power. Nothing I could do to rectify it and the set therefore had to be returned. Seems pretty poor that a major toy manufacturer cannot even get somethng as basic as that right. Bought an alternate set, not Scalextric, which was much more robust and had a far larger and more interesting circuit. Expensive for what it is and poorly made.

Great for little racers My 4 year old just had this for Christmas, and loves it. The cars go really fast without coming off, due mostly to the magnets on the bottom. Colour coding of track / car / controller makes it all easy to understand. The track quality / durability isn't up to the traditional Scalextric standard, but then this is fun and cheap. One review I read mentioned the cars getting stuck at the track joints - this only happens when you go really slow....give it some welly!!

My 1st Scalextric My two children loved it. My 3 year old got to grips with it very quickly and got his car going with no problem and he loved the fact that went really quickly without coming off (flat out the cars do come off but then that is how it should be!). My six year old really enjoyed it and had a lot more control. Overall this is a great little starter kit. The best thing is that it goes together in about five minutes and is resonably sturdy. The cars do sometimes get stuck on the connections but a little push later and no problem. At less than £20 this can't really be faulted.

Great for the Price! for kids this is definitely a great set, i think the reviewer below must have got a faulty set as i have never had any of these problems. it is easier to use than other scalextrics, but the bodies of the cars do come off if you crash on a hard floor they can be easily clipped back on again, its just annoying. if you have never used a scalextric before you will be amazed at how fast the cars go! other scalextric sets are hard to get for under £70 so this is great for what you get. 2 cars 2 controllers a decent sized racing track(for the size of the cars-about 3cm by 5cm) overall great fun 4 every1!

Avoid this to avoid disappointment This item is also listed as First Scalextric, see the reviews under that name. The set is very badly designed and the cars will keep stopping as the part of the track that carries the current is far too narrow and a good contact is never maintained. If you do get them to move they'll go flying off the track. Look for something else if you want to keep the kids happy, i took mine back and bought one by another manufacturer which did the job much better, the cars did circuits at least!!!
