Product DescriptionThere aren't many games which list a critique of objectivism as one of its selling points, but then Bioshock isn't like other games. Indeed the only titles it can easily be compared to are System Shock and its sequel, to which this is a spiritual successor. Instead of being set in a derelict space ship though the game's story involves you exploring a mysterious underwater city after a plane crash. The city had been created as an art deco paradise for the intellectual elite but is now in ruins and populated only by grotesque mutants - both physically and mentally. Although at first sight the game appears to be a first person shoot `em-up it is not primarily an action game. Your goal is survival, not extermination, with ammunition limited and many enemies far more powerful than yourself. You are able to upgrade your abilities though, both physical and psychic, by collecting Adam - the mutagen which was the cause of the disaster in the first place. Even so the best way to defend yourself is to play the creatures and environments against themselves, tricking one group into fighting against another or taking control of security robots and devices. The game gives you full freedom to play the game exactly as you want, while at the same time creating a living world which carries on with or without you - with many creatures not even bothering to acknowledge you unless you attack them. With stunning graphics, especially the water effects, and an extremely disturbing atmosphere this could well be the most intelligently macabre video game ever made. Product ReviewsCustomers have given Bioshock - Limited Edition [Tin Case] (Xbox 360) an average customer review rating of 4.5 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. Bored I dont understand the big deal with this game. I got to the second level and realised that i wasnt having anything resembling fun, i was just bored. it seemed all you do is walk around some 1960s undewater labyrinth and shoot/fire magic at surprise retards that jump out at you. oh, and every so often you have to kill one of those big guys in a diving suit, which is just annoying because you have to waste all your ammo. and then repeat. I ended up in the situation where i was thinking "well i bought this game so i should really play it" then 10 minutes in i was turning it off again. As mediocre as halo was, at least it was fun. I traded it in and got EA skate, which i recommend buying over this uselessness very strongly. WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT!!!!!!!! This is one of the worst games in ages!!!! the graphics are rubbish, the storyline is rubbish. I can't find anything good about this game, DONT BUY IT I WOULD GIVE IT "0" IF I COULD wow what a game this game is awsome its just gr8 in every way its got so much to offer. with brillant graphics and a unbellivable place to show them off (a underwater city) and brilliant game play and a captivating story too top it off. the only downers i would point out is the end is a little bit dissapointing after what you do throuhgout the whole game and it has no multiplayer mode just a story mode dispite the fact that they have a fantastic combat system. Another classic from the makers of System Shock 2 Bioshock is the sort of game that stays with you well after you decided the future of those little girls! the graphics are simply the best yet in gaming, and the sound is so terrifying its untrue; sound in these sort of games is paramount and bioshock has a beautiful soundtrack, accompanied by sounds of nearby foes singing(simply bone chilling songs),muttering, shouting, fighting and callin you out with the chilling 'i can hear you'!foes can spring from absolutely anywhere, the AI is the best in any game up to know, they really are like other ppl in the game! Although i preferred the system shock 2 scenario, Bioshock and ss2 have the same story blueprint.you find yourself trapped in a constricting place(underwater city(bioshock)and spaceship(ss2))not knowing what happened while you find the place is overrun by unknown life forms hell bend on your demise. in both you slowly figure out the truth through audio books and other characters contacting you. basically SS2 is one the the greatest ever, and this is one of the greatest from the past ten yrs!But ss2 was a more original game! Beautiful..!! Bioshock is possibly the best game to hit the Xbox 360 to date, and yes I have played Halo 3. Bioshocks story is that you are involved in a plane crash in the Mid Atlantic Ocean (I think) in the early 1960's. Fortunately for you you seem to have crashed right by a huge pylon or lighthouse type structure in the middle of the Ocean. Upon further investigation you realise that you have in fact crashed in an area of the ocean that holds beneath its surface a fully functioning and operating underwater city named 'Rapture'. From here the story continues to twist and turn and become more and more intruiging with every step. The great thing about Rapture is that there isn't an M16, G36 or M9 in sight. It is all contemporary 1960's styling. 1960's weapons, 1960's clothes and everywhere 1960's music playing eerily in the backdrop. It's a hugely refreshing change from the constant barrage of games trying to be super future shooters. You have to play it to understand how beautifully refreshing this setting is. The graphics are amazing. Keep in mind that Rapture is underwater. As such there is water outside every window, water leaks here and there. The graphical and physical effects of the water are the best that I've seen in a game to date, even the Halo trilogy. The lighting effects are fantastic and are what really make the game a real treat to look at. The character animations (including your own) are very realistic and further add to the realism of the game. The sound effects are simply exquisite to listen to. The 1960's music isn't loud enough to get annoying or boring and to be honest only chimes in in certain places. It does really add to the contemporary feel of the game though. The weapon and water sounds aren't over the top or understated, they are in fact just right. The voice acting all around is some of the best yet, although I would say that the effort that Bungie puts into its Halo games is probably still the king in this department. The game itself, as in the main story, could be completed in a matter of days i suppose. But if you actually visit all the extra rooms and take a good look around and actually do some searching you'll have at least 1 1/2 to 2 weeks worth of gameplay here. The great thing is that you'll want to start again to enjoy the story from the beginning. As far as longevty is concerned then Bioshock scores top marks in every aspect. Bioshock is in almost every way the best Xbox 360 game to date, whether it be a shooter or RPG Bioshock has it all. Every aspect is believable and realistic in nature. It's got a great blend of story, action and adventure and some Role Playing Game features too. 10/10 !!
