Apple iPod 30GB Video/Black (5th Generation) (Electronics)

Don't know what I'd do without it now. Best thing i have brought in the last 18 months. I did not use it too much to start with but the more content i put on the iPod the more i used it. , Travelling, running, drving in the car, hooked up to a pseaker system.........you name it i have used it in this way.

Big fan... let down I have had my Ipod video for over a year now. I have always been a big fan of Apple and the Ipod series really does them justice. The player is very simple to use with menus that can be navigated around easilly and the sound quality out of the earphones that are provided with the player is excellent. The newer players are also fantastic and really lead the way in terms of new technology. A little more than a year on and I am now very dissapointed. The drive on the Ipod has just failed which is dissapointing but worse than that was the service / "help" I received from Apple. The online manuals are all very good but when you have an issue not covered by them it is very difficult to get any more information. Phoning resulted in more confusion and eventually their advice led to serious errors on the computer I was using and it had to be restored! The warranty you get is a year which is standard for such a product but I know that this loss of access to the onboard drive is a very common issue with the Ipod (both Video and older models) and perhaps this should be revisited. I personally know of 5 friends that have had to replace their Ipod within or just over a year of buying it, all with the same problem. I asked about sending the pod in for repair but the cost to do this was almost as much as a new Ipod and as you lose all data you might as well not bother. I wont be returning to Ipod in the near future. Although a big fan of the technology I have found that Itunes can be very annoying and the serivce I got from the help team was very poor. The formats used by the player also drive me mad because genuine software for converting video files to those used by Apple are very hard to come by and the converter on Itunes wiped the sound files so I got silent movies. I know I am not alone in having issues with an Ipod, I hope that I am alone in the terrible service.

Brilliant ipod This is a brilliant creation by apple. Many people have claimed that it doesn't last, mine broke after about half a year because I kept on dropping it and I accept responsibility for its breaking ( I got a new one on my years warranty ) and until it dropped a lot of times it was in very good condition, apart from the back which always gets a little bit scratched and this is impossible to avoid. There are a lot of great things about this ipod, such as its ability to store 7500 songs, its able to store music videos, games. It's easy to use and has a great sound system, you can also buy loads of extra features to enjoy the use of the ipod more, but I think it is better not to do this, they are expensive and it is great without them. Taking everything into consideration, it is a great machine with good design, but it scratches easily. I do not think that that is a proper flaw though, so I highly reccomend it, it is the best mp3 player out there ( after the 80gb one ).

ipod It's a complete waste of money as it only lasts a year. Fortunately mine went wrong the week before the warranty would run out..even then you are paying £39 for one. however, as for buying a new one.. Don't. just stick to warranties. Even on Amazon it does not say that it only lasts a year.. unless you read the reviews! Even the customer service people did not say that the battery lasts a year. Maybe in the future I will just buy a small nano one. When I reported it, the customer service people say I have to reset.. what is the point when the batttery only lasts a year. They are under the impression that few people have problems with this ipod.. do they heck?!
