Product ReviewsCustomers have given Acronis True Image 10 Home (PC) an average customer review rating of 3.5 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. Worked for me In summary, my PC got hosed and I recovered my whole c drive with only 10 minutes experience of using this software. If you want details: I was on the lookout for a solution that would restore my whole drive or partition in a few clicks if I ever needed. I came across True Image and last week I had a few moments to try it; after a few minutes of poking around I left it backing up my c drive over night. Two days later I got hit by a virus - hundreds of files were left corrupt or deleted after "fixing" with AVG. I could run windows but loads of applications were broken. I had all my documents copied to an external drive so my previous solution would be to reinstall Windows XP, all my software (plus all updates), set up internet connections, email etc and copy back my documents - hours or days of work. Instead I ran up True Image again and once more after a few minutes chose to restore my c drive, all default settings were fine. I gulped, started the process & had to reboot. It predicted a 2 hours to go so I went to bed. Next morning I woke, and my PC was restored to the way it was a few days ago! What a relief! Update: I wanted to replace the 40GB hard drive in my wife's laptop with a spare I had that was faster and a lot quieter. I installed True Image, created a boot CD (and tested it would boot to it OK), created a backup to an external USB hard drive, swapped out the internal drive, booted to CD and restored the partition. Process was flawless, smooth and took a few hours, mostly unattended while I was pottering around doing other things. Very Dissapointed Bought this recently after all the good reviews. Checked with the company first that it was compatible with sata laptop drives and told yes. Installed and guess what not compatible. Used company live chat to resolve problem told to buy version 11 instead at extra cost to me. hich I have just done. The product if used properly (version 11 for sata drives and 10 for ide drives) is very good better in my opinion than Ghost certainly doesn't hog memory or cause you to wait 10 minutes for cd to get to resore point. Easy interface with lots of extras. Just note techie support and live chat when things go wrong are neXt to useless. So much for relationship marketing and service. Don't Bother! I also read good reviews of this software and so bought it to use with my new external drive. I have found it difficult to use, makes corrupt backup copies that won't restore and technical support is almost useless. Today when I attempted an incremental backup I got an error message saying that the original backup was password protected - I didn't even know a password could be added let alone put one on! Presumably had I needed to restore from this backup I would have been unable to do so. I am now looking for good reliable software to backup my harddrive. SLOW backup to USB disk Started a complete backup of my laptop HD using the bootable CD and saving to an attached USB HD. It's now been running for 6 hours and reports 9 hours left. On booting with the CD it hung forever on "Disabling IRQ 15". An assortment of other bug-like issues have cropped up. After years of using Ghost, I must say this product is unacceptable. Very disappointed! Like many others, I read the glowing reports about this product in the popular computer journals. On the strength of these reports, I bought Acronis True Image 10 Home. What a mistake! There appears to be an inherent problem with this product that manifests under various circumstances. In a couple of words, the problem is 'Corrupted Archive'. For anyone wishing to know more, you would be wise to take a look at the Acronis online forum where you can read individuals' accounts of battling with this problem. Some people appear not to have any problems with this product - they are the lucky ones. Perhaps I should also add that the 'Corrupted Archive' issue is not my only gripe with this product. For example, it is supposed to be easy to use. Not so. 'Easy' is a relative term and I don't know what this product is being compared with. If you're new to disk imaging software (as in my case), it is not easy to use. Choose wisely - good luck!
