Product DescriptionWhat do you do after you've reinvented a genre? Well, going on Graduation, the third full-length artist album by hip-hop's most famous Noughties auteur Kanye West, you hunt across the pop landscape for fresh sounds ripe for plunder. Most obviously, there's Daft Punk, whose track "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" forms the vocoder foundation to "Stronger". But Kanye's learnt more from the robots than this straight steal would suggest--indeed, a good proportion of Graduation sounds informed by their vintage synthesisers and noveau `80s feel. Elsewhere, there's much to suggest Kanye's pop ambitions have no sign of waning: the opulent "Good Life" rolls along on a hook snatched from Michael Jackson's "PYT (Pretty Young Thing)", while "Homecoming" follows Jay-Z's lead and borrows the vocal talents of Coldplay's Chris Martin. The album's not without the occasional goof--"Drunk and Hot Girls", a boozy tale set to the tempo of an Eastern European drinking song, is something Outkast could more comfortably handle. But thankfully, there's also numerous moments where Kanye simply does what Kanye does best. "Can't Tell Me Nothing" is a sleek, swaggering statement of self-assurance, while "Everything I Am" kicks off on a battle tack but gradually softens, the sound of a man balancing power and responsibility: "Last year Chicago had 600 caskets," muses Kanye, "Man, killing's some wack shit". --Louis Pattison Image GalleryClick on a thumbnail on the left to view a larger image on the right.

Product ReviewsCustomers have given Graduation an average customer review rating of 4.0 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. I still think the best is yet to come.... this is a great album - not brilliant but still very good but I think we've yet to see the best of Kanye. I like his innovative style, and intelligent thoughtful lyrics but I think hje still has to way to go Yet another classic... It's an album like this that keep hip-hop going. Without this, the industry would be flooded with Soulja Boy followers. And what's good about this album is that Kanye West is different. He stands out compared to the other rap artists who seem to just want to be like each other. Yes he can have the odd couple of lines on guns. Yes he can spit a few bars on his relationship with hoes. But the way he puts it all together is unique. It's like he knows what his fans expect on his new album. Every song is differet, and you can relate with each one depending on what mood you are in. There's feel good tracks (Champion, Good Life). There's the story-telling ones (Homecoming, Good Morning). And there's the ones that make your head rock, without you even noticing (Stronger, Flashing Lights). There's not one bad track I can mention on this album. The odd couple don't match up to the previously mentioned (Drunk and Hot Girls, Barry Bonds), but they are still listenable. The features are limited, and some dissapointments (T-Pain, although I suprinsingly liked the track he featured on, and Lil' Wayne). But to make up for it you've got Chris Martin, Mos Def and Daft Punk. There is a disappointment though. You don't get the story-telling vibe you did when listening to "The College Dropout" or "Late Registration", as there is no skits and it feels slightly.. empty. But with the effort Kanye put into this album, you can't complain. I don't just recommend you to by it, I urge you to buy it. Top tracks: -Homecoming -Good Morning -Stronger -The Glory fresh i bought 5o cent album first and was pleased with it, but down the line after playing it half a dozen times the music started to become knackered out. then i bought graduation after being hooked on the STRONGER song on youtube. most of the samples for the songs are well blended in to great effect, like the goodlife using pyt (which in my opinion is shtloads better than the pyt on the 25th anniversay remake of thriller). if you didn't look in the credits booklet, you just wouldn't realise there was a sample of well known songs in there. good morning is another example of this if you've never heard elton john. the point i'm trying to make is that this whole album sound and feels FRESH AND NEW, and i know i'll be listening to this in my car for quite a while yet. however, with the curtis album, does and is good, but compared to graduation feels retreaded a thousand times over and stagnant. i can see why graduation has outsold the curtis album. forsure. Good A decent album, 10 times better than 50 cents album, man i hope he retires. PLEASE STOP KILLING HIP-HOP!!!!!!!!! STOP KILLING HIP-HOP!!!!!!!!! With Graduation by Kanye West, Curtis by 50 Cent and American Gangster by Jay-Z the nails in the coffin of Hip-Hop are being firmly hammered down. The fact the people can find any redeeming features in any of the tracks contained on these appalling Albums is beyond me. All I can do is list some real Hip-Hop Albums that prove that quality lives on and mediocrity simply falls into obscurity.
