Product DescriptionAha Shake Heartbreak may have blown open the doors of fame for Kings of Leon, but their third full-length album (named for a United Pentecostal Church ministers' conference) could well usher the Nashville foursome directly to rock and roll's zenith. There's hardly a change in plans for the three Followill brothers and their cousin, and that means producer Ethan Johns, a smorgasbord of musical influences, and a cacophonous ensemble of guitar, bass, and drums. A trio of relentless rockers--"My Party," "Camaro," and the sarcastic "Charmer"--are sure to pacify those familiar with the Kings' blueprint, yet there is ripening in the band's approach heard, in several of the record's 13 songs. Reverb guitar and vocals and a "woo woo" chorus add a sinister aspect to "Trunk," and "Knocked Up" features a laissez-faire Caleb Followill crooning "She don't care what her mama said/She's gonna have my baby." The seven-minute revelation of fatherhood that opens the album leads into the U2-influenced "McFearless," a reggae-splashed "Ragoo," and the rambling English blues of "Black Thumbnail." It's a rogue element that has always left every record fresh, and this time it has Kings of Leon teetering on the edge of rock renown. --Scott Holter Video TrailerClick the play button below the trailer image to begin playing the Because of the Times trailer video. Product ReviewsCustomers have given Because of the Times an average customer review rating of 4.5 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. Beautiful and intelligent... KOL are quite clearly continuing to push the boundaries on this third masterpiece of an album. Each song seems to sum up an emotion and the ghostly tones of the opening track, Knocked Up, made my spine tingle from the second I hit the 'play' button. This album is densely layered and highly addictive. I'm surprised that 'My Party' (Track 6) even continues to play on my stereo given the amount of times I've listened to it. It breaks down just after three minutes with a riff that's hot, heavy and totally electrifying...it will make you want to explode! Caleb (Followill, frontman) uses the versatility of his voice to the extreme in the demonic, scratchy screeches of 'Charmer'. This vastly contradicts the milky-smooth magic of 'On Call' but both are equally bone-bending in brilliance. I would recommend this album to absolutely everyone. It's pure, rough and incredibly sexy. One of the most exciting albums of 2007. Excellent album from a great band. This latest Kings of Leon album is a master-peice. More haunting than their first 2 excellent albums and more creative. Perhaps the best and most original band to come out of America in years. I cant wait for their next album. Because Of The Times 'Because Of The Times' is the excellent third album from KOL and boy is it another stormer. The sound is slightly heavier than the first two albums, but it is a great development for the band. You still get the distinctive vocals, coupled to great songs, but all with a slightly heavier edge. The album opener is great, it creates the mood perfectly and leads you into this collection of wonderful tracks. 'Fans' is one of my favourites on this album, but most tracks are worthy of mention. Needless to say I am a fan of KOL and may be slightly biased, but balanced against their past albums I'd have to say this is easily up to past high standards and another album to please and delight. Well worth a listen. Superlative!!! The KOL rock! Without doubt the best band on the planet at this present time. First we were treated to one of the best debut albums in years in 'Youth and young manhood' which was then followed by the even better 'Aha shake heartbreak' and then to top the lot we get 'Because of the Times'. What more can I say? What are you waiting for?...Buy it!!! Excellent What can I say ? Along with the Artic Monkeys one of the best albums of 2007. I notice that some people are complaining that the album is a disappointment conpared to their debut, but it's more of a polished progression than the raw style of their first disc. Enjoy.
