Philips Nivea HS8040 Moisturizing Rotary Shaving System (Personal Care)

A fantastic shave and great price This is one of the best shaves I've ever had. The closeness of the shave is on a par with a wet shave, with a lot less hassle, and certainly fewer nicks. I've been using the razor for the last 8 weeks and noticed a major decrease in razor rash and irritation around the neck area, particularly given the wearing of a collar and tie for 14 hours per day. I'm so impressed with this unit, I've bought a second for use at work to keep the five o'clock shadow at bay.

Nothing to complain about.... simply brilliant!! Im 25 and have always wet shaved with Mach3 Turbo and nivea shaving gel. I've just started a new job which requires a clean shaven face every day. This is impossible with a razor as the rashes under my neck are awful, and the collar from my shirt irritates this greater. So, i scoured the internet for many hours trying to decide which electric shaver would be the best. I saw the Philips HS8040 Shaver in Boots, but at over £100 thought that was far too expensive for something that i didnt know how good it would be. Seeing the HS8040 in Boots however, did allow me to appreciate the flexible head design which i thought would be excellent for shaving around my neck. So i hit Amazon and found the same shaver for over £30 cheaper!! Bargain!! So i read the stacks of reviews on the HS8060 and was still left undecided. So i tried the HS8040 which had more positive reviews. The only difference between these 2 shavers is the HS8060 stand caters for the moisturiser, while the HS8040 (this one and the one i bought) means you have to pump in the moisturiser by hand... not the chore of the century is it. So, i'd save yourself some money and buy this one! As always i wet my face with a flannel and hot water to soften the brissles as much as i can, then, following the circular motion recommended in the manual i shaved my face, pressing the moisturiser release button every 10 - 20 seconds or so. The results are fantastic, and i can DEFINATELY CONFIRM that it IS AS CLOSE AS A WET SHAVE. Buy this shaver, you will not be dissappointed!

best shaver i've had closest electric shave i have had. on a par with wet shave. very quiet operation. i found that wetting face with hot water then using shaver means using less moisturising lotion; but can be used just with lotion if preferred. comes with fabric travel bag which holds shaver and clipper head. has lithium ion batteries that do not suffer from 'memory effect' in the way that some others do - you can leave it on charge all the time and it has no bad effect. i found the ease and closeness of this razor a revelation - leaves your face smooth, refreshed and smelling nice. recommended.

Simple and effective with a feel of quality. Thanks to BA (and the new Terminal 5), I was forced to replace my Braun. I Chose this Philips and can't believe the difference! It's ages since I used a non-electric, but I certainly can't remember a closer shave than this. I love the fact that it can be used wet. The moisterising cream works perfectly. If I may add, I feel silly for using a sub-standard and more expensive shaver for so many years.

Pretty good but not a wet shave I got these razor as a replacement for a CoolSkin HQ7782 model that packed up after 9 months. I use the razor with normal Nivea Shaving Gel on a wet face, rather than using the applicator and expensive refills. I have a pretty heavy beard and I find this razor to do an OK but not amazing job compared to a wet shave. However, it's considerably more convenient. The HQ7782 was slightly better in this regard. However, this model is easy to clean and doesn't get mucky like the more enclosed-type razors.
