Product DescriptionA major criticism of the Foo Fighters' self-titled debut was its supposed lack of, you know, passion among the well-crafted songs and well-crafted rock. This time out, if it's wreckage you want, it's wreckage you get. The Colour and the Shape grows deeper the more it's played, with the band's ripping power more than matched by Dave Grohl's fascinating examinations of pain and divorce. There is even a convincing long slow ballad, "November Stars", whose intensity should win over doubters. If that doesn't work, then the screaming "My Hero" will.--Rickey Wright Image GalleryClick on a thumbnail on the left to view a larger image on the right.

Product ReviewsCustomers have given The Colour And The Shape: 10th Anniversary Edition an average customer review rating of 4.5 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. The Colour And The Re-Shape Time and again I have been disappointed by Foo Fighters albums, simply because every release after 1997 has failed to live up to The Colour And The Shape. Upon the release of every new album the band proclaim it'll be better than anything they have ever done but I don't think they will ever better this album. This is when the Foos blended blistering rock with great melodies to near perfection. Let's use Monkey Wrench as an example - a finely tuned rock beast with awesome riffs and the kind of "free spirit" passion the band has struggled to maintain since. This was an exctiting and accomplished album with almost no weak links and yet I find most of Foo Fighters new stuff relatively bland these days. So why only three stars for such a damn good album? Well the album in its original form certainly deserves the full five stars but I can't hide the disappointment in the 6 bonus tracks - they are crap! The production isn't as good as the 13 main album tracks (presumably because the bonus tracks have not been remastered) and the vocals are dull. Most are cover versions, with the exception of Dear Lover (a reasonable track I suppose - the only one!) and The Colour And The Shape (a simply dreadful mess of a track). We also have a dull version of Baker Street..... yawn. If you don't already own The Colour And The Shape then this is the version to get (for completist reasons if nothing else) yet I can't recommend the re-release to existing owners. Unfortunately I feel I've wasted money on 6 bonus tracks I will never listen to, seeing as I already had the album. Possibly their best ever album This album is probably the Foo Fighter's best album, and really show cases the talent of the backing band and lyricist. The album's best tracks are "My Hero" and "Everlong", both of which are absolutely superb, and there are strong tracks like "Monkey Wrench" and "Up in Arms" to keep our blood flowing nicely. The main feature of this album is the fact so many different approaches are tried to tracks and sound, without ever losing the distinctively rocky feel to the whole album, and Grohl's lyrical flair is well exercised by the different types of track. This is strongly recommended to Foo Fighter's fans. The Colour and the Shape This can easily be classed as one of the Foo's best albums and now with the extra tracks this album has just got better! It has some brilliant tracks, 'Monkey Wrench', 'My hero' and the anthem 'Everlong', which are all simply outstanding. The whole album is superb though, very uplifting and just great rock, perfect for those summer days out. This is a great place to start if you're new to the foo's and an excellent addition for any existing foo fans, a must have album! shinin' foos! Though I obviously havnt perchased this yet (but i will be doing) i have all the B - Sides inclued and the original album. I have to say, it is not only the definitive Foo album - with incendiary tracks such as Hey, Jonny Park, Monkey Wrench and the always incredible Everlong - but it is one of the best albums of its genre (and perhaps all genres!) ever! As well as this the B - Sides included - all off the singles of this albums - are all very good, though some better than others. The Colour and The Shape is easily the best of all. Its is a shame that the song Normal has yet to released in a pack like this and if you havn't heard it, it is the best unreleased foo song ever. Nevertheless i urge you to buy this Fan (the B - Sides are worth it) or not (An incredible album anyway). You will not be disappointed. Long Live Foo!!!!
