Product Reviews

Customers have given Apple MacBook white 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/1GB/120GB/SD/AP/BT an average customer review rating of 5.0 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below.

Good, but not up to Apple's usual quality! I've used Macs for few years now, and this Macbook is a bit of a disappointment. OK, the Leopard operating system (OSX 10.5) is very nice, with some genuinely useful new features (Quick Look, Spaces etc), and it works beautifully- as you would expect from a Mac. Bootcamp comes as part of Leopard now, and it was a simple enough procedure to install Windows Vista Home Premium on a separate partition (for the sake of £65 for an OEM version, it's just handy to have both!). Ihave no complaint about the operating system or included software. The big disappointment for me is in the build quality of the machine - it simply isn't up to Apple's usual high standards. As I type this, I am being irritated by a squeaking sound under my left wrist because the 'palm rest' bit isn't securely fixed to the outer casing. The whole thing just doesn't feel particularly sturdy, which is not a complaint I can make about my aging G4 PowerMac, which is built like a tank, or even my Intel iMac. The keyboard isn't exactly a joy to use either, with plenty of mssed keystrkes :) - though maybe I'll get used to the short travel of the keys in time. The underside of the machine gets VERY HOT around the processor area - far too hot to comfortably put on your lap. This would appear to be due to inadequate venting and/or poor fan management. I had to purchase a Rain Design iLap to overcome this problem, which is very nice, but more expense. I also bought a decent Brenthaven case/bag for it, as it feels quite fragile (though I have yet to put its robustness to the test!). I have also been a little disappointed with the displays of the two most recent Mac additions to the household (this MacBook and the Intel iMac). The viewing angle of Apple's recent displays seems pretty poor compared with that of the old-style 20" Apple Cinema Display on my G4 Though perhaps that is because I am comparing new bottom-of-the-range with old top-of-the-range (the Cinema Display alone cost much more than the MacBook in its day!!). I'm wondering if I should have spent a few extra pennies on the MacBook Pro. Having said all that, unless my MacBook suffers a serious failure I will still go back to Apple for more - once you've tried it, you just can't go back to PCs. My old G4 is still going as strong today as it was nearly 5 years ago, when new, and it does not feel like an old computer - I hope i can say the same about this MacBook in another 5 years.....

Great This is my fifth Mac, the cheapest I have bought and far and away the best. it has all the bells and whistles. It is very fast and easy to use. My only quibble has been finding some urls that do not work on its safari browser, most notabvly the latest Yahoo mail.

Simply Marvelous! Well, I've been a PC fan for a long time, I build them, take them apart, tinker with them, then put them back together again. I used Windows because it ran everything, and I didnt have to worry about compatibility. Then Microsoft released Vista, and I began to move away from PCs more and more. Vista was advertised as a flashy fantastic OS that would do everything you needed it to. This was a lie. Vista made my mid to high spec computer that I had spents hundreds of pounds on look like a dinosaur. I was gutted. Then my friend showed me his Mac, (I had tried to avoid these like the plague for years because getting my usual programs to run on them was impossible.) It looked great, he booted it up and loaded into Mac, and it just worked. I needed to do something, I could do it, just like that. Then he needed to use a windows application. He turned it off, and booted into Windows XP using his boot camp install, and he could run any Windows application. And I swear XP was faster on his Mac. But nowdays companies and software developers are taking Apple in mind more, and are releasing products for them. I've found numerous Windows applications that have been ported over for use on Macs. A week later I knew I wanted a Mac. It took me a while to save for one as they are very expensive, but the cost is far outweighed by the performance, usability and reliability you get. I opted for the mid range macbook as I needed the DVD-RW capability. Within 2 hours I had learnt how to do everything I needed the Mac to do. I dont know anyone that could turn on a PC for the first time and just know where everything was. This is by far the best buy I've ever made. I'm going to sell my PC, and get myself one of the new iMacs next, just so I have a big screen desktop to use when I want to watch films, or have more of a screen to look at. I would recommend this to anyone. Macs simply are the best. And you wont ever want to go back.

Cool machine I'm a recent convert from Windows to MacOS. A little strange at first, but I become more enthusiastic each day. MacOS is very intuitive, and everything "just works". This laptop is loaded with a good spec, and runs more quickly and seamlessly than any other computer I've used. Lovely to look at, light, easy to transport and use, and a good set of software to start you off. Handles multiple applications without any effort. Only downside - and loses a star - overpriced in UK compared to abroad. Bought mine abroad and saved £160. Having said that, plus point too, buy any Mac anywhere in the world and it will run in English. Windows doesn't. In conclusion, if you can afford the extra money this will give you a great computing experience.

This product is massively underate I have just purchased this macbook and was initially sceptical about the switch over from windows XP but it hasn't been a problem at all! The apple operating system is as good as everyone says and it performs everything well, I have even tried testing the claim it is 'impossible to crash a mac' and after opeing 15 programmes it still didn't have any problems and kept on operating as normal. If you have any doubts about making the swtich from windows, don't! you will not be disappointed!!
