Lost - The Complete Third Season [2007] [2006] (DVD)

Lost returns for its best season yet Barcode: 8717418129378 I have nothing but praise for this series of Lost. After Channel 4 lost the rights to Sky (which i don't have), I chose to wait till this box set came out rather than go on the internet for spoilers. In the time inbetween i forgot just how brilliant Lost could be at its best and when i sat down to watch this season - boy was i in for a treat! Series 3 is Lost with all the fat trimmed away. Now 3 years down the line, anything less than essential has been largely left behind, ensuring a series that is slick, well-paced and delivers consistently episode after episode. Whereas series 2 felt like a direct continuation from the first - series 3 has a very different feel. The addition of Ben and Juliet is great as their two characters are absolutely fantastic - quickly becoming central to the entire storyline. We also get to see a lot more of Desmond too, including his flashbacks which are some of the best out of all the characters'. Of course, we also get introduced to his power, which as it is revealed, we realise what a burden he has to carry. The season itself is kinda divided into two sections - the first being Jack, Kate and Sawyer locked up in the Others camp, the second being in essence, things reaching boiling point as the two groups spark off against each-other, people double cross more times than you can count and startling revelations begin to emerge. Flashbacks now take on less of a role of filling out the characters' pasts, instead being used more to emphasise a particular theme or idea for each episode and work all the better for it. This series has less of the patchwork quilt feel of the first two series where it felt like all the characters stories were intertwining but never quite meeting. Now they're all in it togetehr, because let's face it, if they tried to make it on their own they'd be dead before the day was out. This series is all about team-work and herois, self-sacrifice in the name of the greater good, for one character in particular. The cliffhangers endings of each episode are done to perfection - i've lost count of the times i've sat down to watch one episode while eating my lunch only to end up watching about three - it is seriously addictive stuff. Things reach their climax in the final three episodes where it's pretty much edge-of-your-seat 100% tension for the whole duration as the season winds to an amazing finale. I've said it time and time again but i don't get why people get so worked up about there supposedly 'never being any answers in Lost'. To tell you the truth, i don't really mind, to see these briliantly acted characters playing off against each other is just a joy to watch. Jack develops bucketloads in this series, becoming less clean-cut and decisive and all the more interesting because of this. Locke is as mysterious as ever, like Jack, becoming ever more darker - a theme, in fact which surrounds this series. So, from the beautiful imagery and design of the island as a location to the masterful interaction of the various characters and the way they slot into the story - this is another resounding success. If you ever had any doubts about Lost, trust me, go into it with the right mindset, that of complete openess, and it well enchant you. Lost was always good but with series 3, it has truly excelled itself.

Not as entertaining as the first 2 seasons, but still great Lost is the one TV series I have stuck at since I started watching it. Every episode leaves you on a cliffhanger, desperate to see the next one. Although this series gives the impression that the writers are beginning to run out of ideas, they certainly are not - all I say is that it picks up to its usual 5 star quality in season 4 - I promise you. There are so many things that leave your mind spinning; the producers manage to give enough information away ithout spoiling anything and leave it up to the viewer to decide on their own theory of what is happening and why. I would definately recommend this to anybody, and the high price is worth it!!!

Wearing a bit thin I've been hooked on Lost since the first episode but I think that after 3 seasons the writers are struggling to keep the suspense going and for me it shows in season 3 where the every episode feels dragged out to death. While we do get an insight into `the others' in season 3 I felt that the main characters were sidelined somewhat and what we were left with was just filler to try get to the end of the season and then make a few bucks on making a 4th season. I also hated the flashbacks at the end of season 3 as they threw up more questions but the questions weren't interesting enough for me to want to see season 4. I think for me the Lost journey has ended. Disappointing as it started so well.

cracking Goodness,series three of lost,and still the shocks come spiralling,but they take their time and thats something many cant take,this is a slow burning,detailed journey and in season three we learn a heck of alot of what is going on here and just when things appear to be just that little bit clearer,new mysteries appear and open up a new can of worms in a major way. 'the others' as they are known feature heavily here and we understand more about them and why they target the stranded on the island but there is a so much more to learn that that,the flashbacks feature heavily here and give us further insight to the lives back home of those on the island,i cant help feel that they all have something in common,but during the final two episodes we get flash forwards that almost made my nose bleed,what i saw seemed clear but surely not,there is emotion here as well,more so than ever as a viewer,i wont spoil it but i felt sad at some of the scenes,i cant go into major detail without killing some of what a new viewer will see here,but needless to say that this is killer stuff,be patient.

Lost Just Got Even Better Season 3 of `Lost' is probably the most confusing, action packed, and best yet. The plane crash survivors are still on the island, but Season 3 sees a lot more interaction with the mysterious Others. We learn more about the island than ever before, but as normal one answer always leads to a 100 new questions. What do the Others want? What is the Dharma Initiative? Season 3 sees the loyalties and motives of characters such as Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Locke, etc tested to the full. When it comes down to it will they think about themselves or the group? Characters are introduced, characters are killed - the island has become even more dangerous. Having been slightly disappointed in the second season of `Lost' it was with great surprise and joy that season three was so good. The first two seasons act as an introduction to the characters, their motives and to the island itself. The show felt a little insular and not much was happening by the second season. This is rectified now as a load happens and it is gripping stuff. The writing is superb and the number of twists and turns are better than ever. The creators manage to make the Others a vital part of this season and the show benefits from their presence as they are both intriguing and anger inducing. I believe that the third season of this show is so good that if you have not seen any episodes you should venture out and buy them just so you can get to here. Sammy recommendation
