Product DescriptionIn 2005, James Blunt was everybody's favorite overnight success story. In 2007, he's the guy who's making rock meaningful again. All the Lost Souls, the sophomore effort from the Brit responsible for restoring the seriousness of "beautiful" as a compliment, brims with big build-ups, epic-sounding ballads, and lyrics to lose yourself in. The vibe, laid out neatly on first single and opening track "1973", is clear-eyed and heavy-hearted; in anybody over 35, it'll produce nostalgia tempered by hopefulness. Here's a set that suggests rock has got its head screwed on straight again, that the path to real feelings need not necessarily be led by Norah Jones. In anybody younger, it'll cause the unsinkable suspicion that a lot of modern balladeers should be digging deeper. But in both cases it will satisfy. Compared with David Gray and Damien Rice last time out, this time Blunt seems to owe a debt to Barry Gibb--his voice quavers as sweetly and with the same delicate reach. Stand-outs on a brief but dud-less set include "I Really Want You," in which the sound of Blunt's breaking heart is set sparely and elegantly to something approximating the chirp of a cricket, the poignant and desperate "Give Me Some Love", and the VH-1 ready "Same Mistakes." -Tammy La Gorce Image GalleryClick on a thumbnail on the left to view a larger image on the right.

Product ReviewsCustomers have given All The Lost Souls an average customer review rating of 4.5 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. One of the best from 2007 releases. Great album without a doubt, every track is fantastic, my favourite is 'I really want you'. Musically good easy listening, excellent sound etc etc. Wonderful...James Blunt at his absolute best! Ok his first album was very good with some great tunes, but this one is absolutely wonderful! James Blunt has excelled himself with a range of lyrics that will make you cry to upbeat tunes that will have tapping your feet and singing along! It's so great to see and hear that there are still some real singer/songwriters out there and that we haven't all been swallowed up in the mainstream manufactured soul-less rubbish that seems to be dominating the charts! Brilliant Brilliant. Those who don't like it should perhaps listen to "Give Me Some Love" (I would buy the album for that track alone). First line: "Me and my guitar play it my way, it makes them frown" which I think of as the "up yours" anthem. The most uplifting song I've heard in years. Absolutely fabulous. Quietly susprised Quietly susprised how good this cd is. I thought he would find it difficult to follow "Bedlam" but I can see this piece of work remaining in the charts for sometime to come. If you liked Bedlam then you wont be disappointed with this. My fave album of 2007 Absolutely fantastic album - that just about sums it up! I can't stop listening to this at the moment and am listening to it as I write this. Sounds like it won't be worth it 9 quid for 10 songs but the 10 songs are brill so...! I've been trying to pick a favourite but have struggled. I love Carry You Home with great lyrics like the opening sentence of "Trouble is her only friend and he's back again." Shine On and I Can't Hear The Music are also especially good. Then of course there's the brilliant 1973 : ) Please don't debate about buying this album! If you like James Blunt's style then this is perfect for you as it's packed with the sorts of tunes that wouldn't be the same if someone else was singing them!
