The success of the Fron Male Voice Choir's debut album, Voices of the Valley, was so vast that a follow up was inevitable. Voices of the Valley Encore is actually much more than a lazy cash-in from the world's oldest boy-band (ages range from 16 to 60). Timed to coincide with the choir's 60th anniversary, the project features erudite direction from Ann Atkinson and instrumental accompaniments from Jon Cohen, and the "boys" once again get to sing their way through a heady mix of pop standards ("Yesterday"), hymns ("Amazing Grace") and even a splash of opera ("Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves" from Verdi's Nabucco). There's also some filmic material ("Exodus") and a rousing West-End style finale in the shape of "The Rhythm of Life," featuring Michael Ball. It's an encore worthy of an ovation. --Danny McKenna

A wonderful example of a WELSH male voice choir! When I listened to the CD for the 1st time the hairs on the back of my neck stood up! I have the CD on in my car constantly and it's still happening. The vocals are dreamy and sound wonderful and clear. Well done Fron you've done it again, and astonishingly it's even better than the last! You are a fabulous example of a TRUE WELSH MALE VOICE CHOIR!!!!
When's the next one coming??! The first cd is still in the charts, so that speaks for itself as to how good it was. I think this one is just as good, if not even better and is out just in time for Christmas (would make an excellent gift)! They say that the welsh can sing and this is just further evidence for it - can't wait to see if they'll release a third one!
Simply Wonderful! This is an absolutely wonderful album. I did wonder whether it could possibly match up to their superb debut album - in actual fact it's surpassed it! The powerful, haunting sounds of this traditional Welsh choir are cleverly combined with a modern, subtle and uplifting production. I love the whole album but Yesterday and Amazing Grace particularly stand out for me. Have been playing it all week and just know it's going to provide the perfect backdrop to my family's Xmas celebrations!
Voices of the Valley Just wonderful made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, "Land of my Fathers" just got to be at high volume and let it fill your soul, Wow!!
this is not the sound of a welsh choir, its all electronics. :( this isn't how a welsh choir from the valleys sounds, and its terrible in comparison to the first album this group created, really disapointed.
In the first CD, the voices sounded natural, free and spirited. On this CD, they sound robotic, fake and passionless. They have used too much studio.
The songs only good point, are the backings, but then why buy a CD of backing tracks? In my opinion this is the worst example of welsh music to date.
I'd buy any other classical-crossover male group instead of this CD.
