Product ReviewsCustomers have given The Sims 2: Bon Voyage Expansion Pack (PC DVD) an average customer review rating of 3.5 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. Buyer beware I enjoy the sims, but despite loyally buying all the expansion and stuff packs to date the game is no longer playable on my computer because of this expansion pack. I can't save gameplay at all without getting the "Blue screen of Death" thus rendering the Sims2 software useless and leaving me very annoyed. Really good fun, very addictive The Sims 2 Bon Voyage is the sixth expansion pack in the Sims 2 range, and I would thoroughly recommend it. There are 3 different holiday resorts; a beach holiday, a trip to the far-east, and a camping retreat. At each resort there are different hotels, each with their own price range. You book the holiday in advance, and you can do different activities as the days go by (like para-sailing, a helicopter tour, etc), and the good thing about this expansion pack is that the sims have different memories to pick up as they go along, the more they have the more experienced a "traveller" they are. All in all, a really good game to play. Yes it is pretty much the same as the Sims On Holiday, but it's a much more updated and interesting game. Great concept, poor implementation Pros: You finally get some beach lots (I build my own houses so I love this) and sims love to sit on the beach & sunbathe, beach comb, sunbathe or just watch the waves all of which is free and they can do at home. The water looks fantastic and your sims can swim in it. You can now have jewellery & watches (they have to buy stuff or dig it up at the beach) for your sims without having to use those glasses mods. New trees, new curved roof shapes, 3 new food stands with 3 new meals at each If you befriend the new creature (big foot) and bring him home, he has maxed out skills and talents and makes loads of money. You can now invite sims holiday friends over for 3 days. Sims can now buy holiday homes (and they can skill build while they are in them, but you can't take pets, babies or toddlers on holiday) Once the bugs have been sorted out it does actually add a lot to your overall gameplay. I like what it adds to my game enough that even though it's buggy I haven't uninstalled it. Cons: Some of the things they pick up on holiday are absurdly attractive to your sims. If you think you've had problems with sims & swings, you'll go mad when they learn the Pirates sea chanty, the slapdance or how to do Tai Chi. They will come back from holiday and infect all the local sims with the slap dance. You will never be able to stop them because they do these things autonomously and unlike the swings they don't need anything. This uses Securom. It's rather buggy. If you don't download the patch, you will generate a ridiculous amount of charlatans & tour guides that you won't be able remove from the game easily. Fun fun fun! I absolutely love this expansion pack ( I own all of them and buy new ones as soon as they come out ). Sims Bon Voyage is fun. You have 3 destinations to choose from, cool new items for home and wardrobe. The best thing, in my opinion, that you can become an advanced traveller by going to different places, discovering and learning new things and bringing souvenirs and photos home. You can make friends with locals while you're on vacation and then you can invite them to come and visit you at your place. You can also purchase vacation property if you're rich :-) and stay there when you come to relax. Its my 3rd favorite expansion pack after University and Open for Business :-) Spoilt by DRM The game installed a DRM (Digitla Restrictions Management) system to protect itself from being copied. The protection installs secret drivers and a service on your computer which interfere with the way the PC reads Cds and DVDs. It caused read errors and game crashes for several games I own, because the DRM is left behind even after uninstalling Bon Voyage. After 4 weeks of email exchanges with Securom tch support I was able to repair my machine. Save yourself this pain!!
