Great Album Of Mixed Love Songs One of the best love songs album this year, great to have an album of new and classic love songs. Constantly and Miss You Nights stand ouy as the best oldies while All Out Of Love and When You Say Nothing At all or two of the best new recordings. Top of the Christmas List.

Alan Tarney, come and make another ultimate hit cd with Cliff!!! Skipped the love songs that I had heard a million times before. Nice to hear covers as such and Cliff did a great work in them even tho it sounded like they were done in two days time or less. To me it sounded like a compilation with some karaoke tracks. Listening to tracks like "Some people" made me realise that "yeah, he still back then was a real contemporary hit maker", but he isn't anymore and hasn't for years. As far as I can tell, Cliff isn't at all interested in making these compilations. He has always hated compilations anyway. He has had the same opinion about greatest hits tours as well. As far as I know, he doesn't even have a record deal with EMI anymore. EMI has the right to release his back catalogue tho. That is why they release compilations and re-release cd's with bonus tracks. Cliff said it was his idea to add some "new" tracks on these compilations to make them more appealing (for fans). It was the same thing with the Christmas cd few years ago and then the duets cd. They aim these releases for XMas markets and with minimum promotion they get to sell enough copies to make some money for the record company and for Cliff. These compilations have sold a lot more than his latest new cd "SGO". The cost of making "SGO" was very high compared to these compilations. Don't think they actually made any or not much profit with SGO. Record companies don't wanna waste their money with Cliff. They wanna make millions. For them Cliff hasn't released real cool top 40 material for decades. They want something that the kids will buy and lots. Pop idols and X-factor stars are much better for them: they don't have to pay them much, they get free publicity and they are guaranteed to sell millions. Once a year they get new idols as well...so if the idol isn't selling much, they can dump him (or her) and get a new one. Record companies are in severe financial problems anyway. Especially EMI is struggling. The real fact is that as Cliff hasn't got a record contract, people don't hear his records on radio, it is the age of downloads but his public only has started buying cd's and the cd's aren't selling that much anymore, Cliff isn't at all interested. His life has changed a lot since he took a year off as well. I think he is happier with his new friend(-s) and away from Britain than making new cd's that nobody gets to hear anyway. Icing on the cake is that record companies don't want him either. Sad situation. Cliff is a living legend and with the right people working for him and with new (or old, "Hey, Alan Tarney come and make another ultimate hit cd with Cliff!!!") cool writers, he could have a million selling cd and lots of hits. An easy listening, pleasant CD As an avid Cliff fan - (I saw 10 fantastic shows last tour, including Belgium and Dublin), there were just a few songs I don't have, so I would have liked new recordings of the originals but, hey......it's Cliff!!

Good music - certainly not bleeding or dead! If you simply love good music and were quietly despairing that this defining quality standard was lying around somwhere bleeding, dying or maybe even killed off dead by now, then just buy this good music album (as a CD or a download) and smile again.

Beautiful love songs I can't believe some of the reviews I'm reading of this album. Cliff has never, ever turned his back on his fans. I saw him last year twice and it was the best concert I've ever been to. This is a gorgeous compilation (love the seductive cover art) just crying out to be bought. There is nothing tacky about compilations at all. If you're new to Cliff, this is ideal for you. Prepare to be blown away. And Cliff gave long-standing fans who are missing only the five new songs the chance to download the whole album for £3.99 which was great value even for five songs. Cliff is in magnificent voice on all these lovesongs, old and new, from the rich, velvery "constantly" to the dramatic "For Life", the latter is my favourite song ever recorded. Other highlights of this cd are for me are the unrelentingly sumptuous "I Still Believe In You" and the mellifluous "Best Of Me", on which Cliff's voice is so beautiful it's practically insane; and the deeply moving "Ocean Deep" sung in a hauntingly pure voice. And who can forget the perennial fans' favourite, "Miss You Nights" the intimate harmonies of which reach the deepest inticracies of feeling, which is what sets Cliff above other singers in genral for me. There are five new recordings; I'd have preferred original songs but they're all of excellent quality, paying homage to the originals without sycophantic copying. The emotion-drenched "When I Need You" is my favourite of these. If you are new to Cliff then I can't recommend 2004's "Something's Goin On" highly enough. It is the best kept secret in music. I do hope fervently - dream about it - that Cliff will record a follow-up to the awesome SGO but at 67, after around 50 studio albums he does not owe us anything.
