Product DescriptionIf the mark of the skilful Lothario is the one who knows to always tell his lover what she wants to hear, surely Def Jam's R&B sensation Ne-Yo--aka Los Angeles singer-songwriter Shaffer Chimere Smith--is one of the greatest of them all. On third album Year of the Gentleman, Chimere channels his hitmaking talents into a suite of R&B songs that more respectful than rampant in their approach to the romancing. "Single" is a song that reaches out to all the lonely girls, Ne-Yo promising "I'll be your boyfriend til the song goes off", while the Stargate-produced "Miss Independent", lit up by neon synthesisers, suggests Smith isn't too concerned with his own machismo to test out flipping the traditional gender roles, serenading a girl who's a player in her own right: "Everything she got, you bet she bought it". Two great tracks Closer was obviously a massive hit and coupled with Neyo's Radio 1 live lounge performance, it got me thinking this Ne-Yo fella wasn't bad at all. Then out comes Miss Independent with that addictive rhythm and great pad sound. I thought, it's time to buy... Disappointed is an understatement. If you take those two great tracks out you wouldn't look twice at this album. Lesson of the day, always pre-listen to the tracks through iTunes before buying. In this case, buy the two tracks through iTunes and forget the album. Flawless This is the best album I have heard in a very long time. On pretty much every album you buy you tend to find a few fill-up songs which seem to be quickly made to just fill up the album. Not on this album though! Every song is absolutely flawless. 10/10. It's almost impossible for me to pick a favourite as I love every song just as much as the other. It's quite obvious a lot of work has gone in to the production of this album and Ne-Yo obviously wanted it to be perfect. Well he got his wish, as "perfect" is exactly what it is. Great Job! Fantastic ! Really got into this albulm quite quickly. ! Goodwork Ne-yo ! xox better than before!! i think that this album shows that he has grown more, "because of you" showed that he could write but this album seems more grown up and the lyrics - whoa lovely!! i would recomend this album to anyone who hasnt heard his sound before!! Crikey, I bought it last week and loved it, went out the following week and bought Ne-Yo`s first two albums and guess what? I enjoyed listening to them as well. Awesome music from awesome Ne-Yo.
