Product ReviewsCustomers have given FIFA 09 (PS3) an average customer review rating of 4.0 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. You better have the patience of a saint! I last played Fifa in 2001 on a ps2 and loved it (and was pretty good at it too I might add). Blimey how its changed. Look, don't get me wrong, super graphics and a zillion options but try getting stuck in to a simple game and you'll get walked all over. The practice area consists of just you and a keeper, thats it...mmm not really helping with the passing or tackling skills. - Yes I can now juggle the ball with both feet but thats a fat lot of use during the game (the A.I. opposition defence is made up of anphetamine drinking mind readers). IF it had a PROPER tutorial area I would have loved this game. I just need some decent guidance - EA sports online dont offer much - thats for sure. IF you've played Fifa in recent years or youre a hardened FIFA head you may have become accustomed to it, in which case you may be ok. IF youre new to it - you better have the patience of a saint or a personal tutor. Its stressful rather than exciting. Some will say Im saying this because Im crap at it. Theyre absolutely right, but I am not alone - and if they want to sell more copies they'd better get some decent training on board. Otherwise it looks brilliant. Prefere it over the Pro Evolution.. Well, the main problem to me was to choose between the Fifa 09 and PES 2009. But it was real simple, i played both games and Fifa kicks Pes outta game. I was an hard core PES gamer, but this last one, comparing to Fifa.. Its nothing.. Buy Fifa instead of Pes. Regards, Miguel K. Winner First edition of the FIFA franchise I've bought and I'm certainly not disappointed. I haven't explored all the options so far, but what I've used is superb. The movement of the players is great. The ability to change your tactics means you can teach your players to move off the ball in the exact way you want them to. The online play is great, this is why I haven't explored more. The ability to challenge other players so easily means there is hours of fun. The only drawbacks so far have been the advantage rule. It doesn't work. The advantage icon comes up then the play gets brought back even if you're clean through! Plus they haven't managed to program the SPL season properly, it only lasts 33 games because there is no split. Apart from that, top top game. Stick to 08 It seems a recuring theme almost that PS3 games have more left out. Every title lately seems to be shorter and less featured that its predecessor. Fifa is no Exeption. The thing that bugs the community most is the inability to edit kit numbers. So you buy you star striker, and he ends up wearing the number 2 shirt. The messages during the saeson are sparce. No more news paper headlines (5 game winning streak etc) Only ever see a headline when you win something. The clubs ground names are not correct unless you are 1 of the BIG 10 or so clubs. Even though 08 used generic grounds the names were still displayed as real life locations. Now if you get a generic stadium you get a generic ground name. I think this is just lazy! Game play is nice but not that different to 08. The only thing that seems improved in play is that the goalkeepers make less "howlers". What I did like was how the experience points system now works. I like many others are waiting to see if EA release online updates to fix some of this. If they cant be bothered then I dont think im gonna buy the next fifa title. Ive been buying fifa titles since 95! (of course back then it was just fifa football). My advice if you have Fifa 08, is stick to it. 09 isnt improved enough over 08 to be worth thirty some quid! Another great Fifa! There was a lot more hype surrounding this years Fifa, more than any before. This was because, finally, it was considered to finally outperform the PES game. And has it? Unbfortunately, I can't answer that, purely because I haven't played this year's PES. However, I can't imagine PES being that much better, as Fifa has really upped it's game this year. This year's game is a real football sim. Playing your first game, you will really notice the difference. The game is a lot faster. This will mean that your decisions are key when playing, one mistake could be costly... Reminds you of playing an actual game, right? That's why this is a much better game. Playing it will allow you to feel as if your playing a real game, albeit the players are that little bit smaller, and you have a black controller in your hand... Like last years game, the physics engine has also improved greatly. The ball behaves like a ball. The ball will do, exactly what you want it to do. However, your players have to be skilled enough, playing as lower league sides, you will see the ball misbehaving a little, however, this is a good thing. You will see, as attributes increase, the players will be able to control that ball better. Along with the physics engine comes great animation. For example, One of the major gameplay features that EA have plugged this year, is the new contact system. They have taken into account, the size, weight, speed and strength of the player, and have created several animations that match these statistics when performing tackles and jostleing for the ball. For instance, imagine a situation, William Gallas (Strong & Muscular) vs Michael Owen (Small & Quick), When Gallas goes for Owen, he will just flatten Owen. People will find it hard to resist being sent off in some cases. Another key feature that has been plugged by EA, is the new and improved Be-A-Pro Mode. Now, compared to the previous games 5 vs 5 online play, EA have now doubled this to 10 vs 10 allowing for full team play. A very good feature. Also, Be-A-Pro now caters for offline players who want to have the full experience and not just a training mode. This is a four-season long Be-A-Pro mode. This allows you to play as a current player, or create your own player with the create tools and take him through the ranks and really take him to the top. However, as good as this is, I can't help but feel it could have been better, the core gameplay is fine, but four seasons can get slightly boring, and after about 1 or 2 seasons you will find yourself simming many of the matches. I think if there were certain decisions that could have been made available during the seasons it could've been more exciting. Maybe a few things like arguing with the manager or failing to show up for a training session, I'm not talking about making it a fully-fledge RPG mode, but for just a few fun decision making options would've been nice. Career mode returns again, and apart from the gameplay, the idea of career mode remains unchanged since from about Fifa 2005. Commentary is much improved, with the team sounding less bored and more into the match. More players are recognised by name, even those in the lower leagues. Via the PS Store, Downloadable content makes its debut. Availabilities range from extra commentary packs to Addidas live season forms. Addidas live seasons is a mode that allows player stats to be updated weekly. Stats either increase, decrease or stay the same depending on their performance in each game they play in real life. You get one league form for free, the rest have to be payed for. Soundtrack is strong featuring artists such as Duffy and Sam Sparrow. Overall, this is a very strong, good Fifa game that I can highly recommend. Thanks for reading. Submit Your ReviewTo submit your review of FIFA 09 (PS3) you must first login / register.
