Product ReviewsCustomers have given Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising (PC DVD) an average customer review rating of 3.0 out of 5. The latest reviews have been displayed below. not what you expect Id like to agree with everyone and say this game is great but everyone should know two things: 1) when you kill the end boss (which takes over 30 mins) the entire game crashes! (known bug) 2) you can only use chaos in multiplayer as it is not a full standalone product. Be warned as this ruined it for me. Short and not very sweet ! Ok so i have had my expectations dashed again by the dawn of war series, the original series gave far more content that the new game but i had hoped the programmers would at least allow more single player playable races, but no we are stuck with the blood ravens, Relic need to realise that the target market for these games is pretty anti space marines and they could vastly improve sales by allowing a choice of race in single player mode, they should also try and stick to the well established game rules for warhammer 40k, space marine squads do not come in three men squads, would it be too difficult to make it 5 men as per the war game? the expansion is too short and frankly far too easy, this shouldn't be classed as a strategy game as it plays no part in successfully completing the game. I dont see this series changing much and i can see relic kicking out more "expansions" and bleeding more money out of fans but this will be the last expansion for dawn of war 2 i will be buying until they make some very serious chnges to almost every part of the game apart from the graphics and sound which are the only thing i can think is positive about the game. im just gonna install the oringal and play that. Steve B My Son is still playing this game now he loves it he has given it 5 out of 5 would recommend. A great addition, if a rather brief one The story continues on both in terms of level advancement and with storyline from the original Dawn of War II. Without giving too much of the story away, the Chaos forces are the main protagonists of this expansion. DOW II differs slightly in that it provides additional "types of Campign" missions, such as commanding "allied forces" or Units such as vehicles in certain missions. The Graphics, storyline and cut-scenes are flawless alongside the original. Only Disappointment is, as often is the case with Expansions is that they are far too short and limited in scope...there are very few "optional/sode missions" to do alongside the primary campaign theme ones...which is the only thing lacking in this product....the developers seemed to want to provide a quick but firm intro into the new units & forces available in DOw II...in preparation for teh Multiplayer aspect of it more than anything. A Good buy onetheless, but dont expect a large or a long campaign as before in single player mode. 3.8 out of 5 stars Is that it?! Great expansion, but 14 missions? I appreciate that playing the game through with different levels of corruption will change the outcome and therefore give some replay value but the single player missions are completed in one evening! While the endless defend mission of the original DOW2 were slightly dull after a while and some types of other mission also got repetitive this game just feels like they got bored and just put the game out half finished. One mission with the predators, two on the space hulk and one mission with a real 'boss' to it (the final mission). There wasn't even time to try out wargear or experiment with different squad combinations and there was no real variety in missions (although there were clearly some good ideas for this - the space hulk missions, time sensitive missions, the predator mission etc). New wargear is fun, Chaos forces present a difference challenge and there are some great parts but there really should've been much more to it!
